How do we remove an agent?

$

0

I've been thru the manual, and can only find 1 or 2 instances of "remove agent", and hundreds of instances of either word by itself.

We have one user who is being harrassed by LD.  Every day LD wants to install some update/patch...even after we apply everything there is to apply manually, using remote control.

We don't know specifically what it's trying to install.  We thought for the moment that we'd just remove the agent.  But we don't know how.  I had seen LANDesk listed under Add/Remove SW on my PC, but when I connected to his, it wasn't there.  We're assuming that my LANDesk listing was for the console, rather than for the agent.

Thanks in advance for the assistance,

Tom

Update agent from 9.6 to 9.6 SP1

Hi

I just upgraded my Core from 9.6 to 9.6 SP1. Now I want to upgrade my agents too. However, I see no definition in Patch Manager for this update. Do I have to do a full reinstall of the agent? I don't want to manually update the agent using the SP1 Client EXE file.

I have verified that definition type "LANDesk 9.6 SP1 Software Updates" is selected in Patch Manager, and ran the Download Updates tool several times but nothing comes up.

Any advice?

resident agent will not run/install

$

This has been happening to me with provisioning (i have several other threads posted) where the Configure target OS stage of the template will fail at the point where it tries to install the resident agent. But even on a machine that has a LANDesk Agent installed on it, the resident agent will not start....so i can't communicate with the device from the core....which renders LANDesk useless.

When i try to provision a machine, i get this error: RAInstall result 1073741825

I have tried to google that particular error but I have found nothing. i have attached the complete log.

When I just try to go to a machine that has an agent already installed and run rainstall.exe, i get this error: RAInstall result 0

And if i try to run residentagent.exe, i see it running in the task manager for a second and then it disappears. I am stumped...and frustrated.

I have tried to find the latest version of rainstall.exe and put them in all the right places but again, nothing. And my core is running 8.8, SP3.

Someone please help before my boss starts to think I don't know what I am doing....maybe i don't but he doesn't have to know that.

thanks.

Agent health checks

Hello all,

I just received a question from my Service Desk and I have a few answers for them but I would like to run this by the LANDesk pros :-)

The question is: "Is there a way to verify that the landesk agent is installed correctly and working as desired"

I would like to provide them with a quick "Health Checks" checklist that they can run by to veriify the agent is operational on a workstation

So far I have:

- Check all "LANDesk" services are running

- Run an inventory scan

- Run a security scan

- Attempt a remote control session

Do you have any other recommendations I can add to this checklist ?

Thanks a lot

Olivier

Common Base Agent Not Loaded

Having a problem with the common base agent not loading onto some of our servers(Server 2003 and Server 2008). Does anyone have any idea why the agent would not be able to load from the deployment. We tried doing it through Unmanaged Device Deployment and through loading the agent directly on the server.

See attached image for details.

Thanks in Advance,

Matt

Unable to push out agents cross domain

$

I am having trouble deploying the advance agent or full agent to machines that are in a different domain than the core server.  The core server is able to ping these machines but the advance agent push task returns "Failed - Internal Error occurred" and the full agent task returns "Failed - Unable to contact the specified machine".  Usually these errors are associated with the core not seeing these machines.  We have added the additional login to the scheduler service with a DA account for the domain in question.  I am also able to get into the file structure "\\machinename\C$" with the same login in an attempt to watch the installs occur but there is nothing happening.  We are currently running 9.5 SP2.

Any suggestions?

Common Base Agent status Not Loaded

We're seeing widespread instances where devices are showing the Common Base Agent status of Not Loaded (red X).

The real-time inventory and remote control agent status both show loaded (green check).  The green check for remote control agent status is misleading though as we are not able to remote control these machines.  We can do inventory scans.  This seems to be more common with laptops than desktops.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening or how to correct this?

We're running 9.50.0.530 in an environment of approx. 9,000 machines and 25 preferred servers.

intcdrv service failed to start

We have deployed LANDesk v9.0 into our enviroment. On 3 Physical Dell R710's an error in the event log states

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date:  01/0000
Time:  00:00:00 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: xxxxxxxx
Description:
The IntcDrv service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

as much googling as i can find tells me the intcdrv is Intel Platform Verification API Support Driver

As the plot thickens this only occurs on the Dell R710 - Windows 2003 R2 x64
tested on IBM hardware works fine

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cannot find agent

Hello. I am currently running Landesk 8.7  Recently we pushed a bunch of Microsoft patches to about 1500 remote clients running XP with SP2.  The firewall has been disabled on all. More than half the patches failed reporting that they "Cannot find agent" and/or "Cannot find agent (different agent responded"

Can anyone help me interpret that error message?

Thanks!

Agents On An Image

$

I've seen this in various docs but still don't have the definitive answer.

We build our Windows 7 images, add applications and config, sysprep and then capture the image. With some of my other agent based software, the vendor gives us registry keys to delete or modify so that when we set up the machine for the user, the correct information will be there...no duplicates, etc.  Note that I'm not using LD to deploy the OS.

For LD, I've seen: "Can't use an agent on an image" or "change these reg keys" or "sometimes it works, sometimes not", "Forget about it, just do an unmanaged device rollout when the machines are on the domain."

So which way to go here? We are now creating student images for our summer rollout.

Thanks.

pushing the Windows Embedded agent fails to push to Windows 7 Embedded Thin client

Hi,

I have windows 7 embedded thin clients and i am trying to push the Windows embedded agent too.

Now i have added the Thin clients administrator name and password to configure=> Services => schedular => Change Login

Things done to Thin client

=>     The thin client does not have the firewall enabled.

=>      Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

           [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

          "LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy"=dword:00000001

=> windows sharing enabled.

=> ensured that the Administrator was the owner of C and had full access

From the LANdesk server i to tried access the \\192.168.0.111\C$ on the thin client and it prompts me for the user name and password and it fails. this also fails from my desktop.

i can access the \\192.168.0.128\c$ shares on a windows 7 computer and it comes up straight away.

Here is an extract from my log.

Multicast address used by agent

Hello,

We need to know which multicast adress is used by LANdesk agent when software is deployed or patching.

I found several documentation concerning the process of MDR, but none mentioning the multicast address.

Any advice ?

LDMS 9 - Agent Failing when Pushed

$

I have a question regarding my LDMS9 Test Environment. I've successfully discovered a device using Unmanaged Device Discovery within my small 2 PC / 1 Core test environment. After I discovered PC1 I wanted to push the Agent I created out to it. When I do so the Scheduled Task fails. It states Unable to contact the specified machine. The machine may be off or unreachable. Well, the machine is on and is pingable from the core. Anyone have any suggestions to why this may be failing?

Other notes: PC1 is a Windows 7 Machine and these computers are in a a WORKGROUP.

Scheduled Inventory and VulScans Not Running

Hi all,

I have a Win 2008 server that has a LD 9.5 SP3 client installed. Agent is configured to run vulscan and inventory scans once every 24 hours but these are not working.  Reinstalled agent a few times.  Same agent is installed on other servers and they work fine.  If I try to run an inventory or vulscan scan manually, works perfect so I know there aren't FW rules blocking traffic between client and core.  Any suggestions as to what else to look for?

Thanks!

Clients being prompted to turn on Windows Updates after agent install

$

Hello,

We are in the process of upgrading our clients from 9.5 SP2 to 9.6 SP2 and we have been getting reports of people getting action center pop ups to turn on Windows Updates.  When a client goes into the Windows Update control panel, it will show that updates are turned on and will often show a number of updates to be installed.  We are currently using WSUS to do updates currently, but will be implementing Patch in the near future.

Our clients are all running Windows 7 64 bit SP1.  We have set the agent configuration to suppress the Windows Updates reboot notifications, but after WSUS applies updates, we do have clients that get the WU reboot prompt and not the LD reboot window.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks.

We recently went from 8.7 sp3 to 8.8 and since doing so, we cannot deploy the agent through the LANdesk console. If you manually run the installer from the client it works, but pushing it fails, on any unmanaged pc. Here is the log file from one of the attempted pushes:
