When trying to view the video properties I recieve an error.

Invalid Display Settings.  The currently selected graphics display driver can not be used.  It was written for a previous version of Windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of Windows.

This error will go away if I uninstall the Mirror Driver and will reappear as soon as I load it back.

Since recently updating to Landesk Management Suite 9.6 SP2 the following are problems with the Agent we have had and our fixes.

1. Dell E6510 Laptop Freezes after Login

Fixes: Update Storage Controller to Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller VER 14.6.0.1029 Dated 7/27/2015

Or  RollBack Storage Controller to INTEL(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E Sata Raid Controller VER 8.6.2.1315  Dated 8/6/2010

2. Dell E6510 Laptop Constantly Reboots

Fix: RollBack Storage Controller to INTEL(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E Sata Raid Controller VER 8.6.2.1315  Dated 8/6/2010

3. When upgrading the agent to a computer that has the older agent sometimes most of the agent gets installed but cba8, the management agent does not.

Fix: Run CBA8inst.msi from the client.  Note: I have not sent this to Landesk support yet.

I have made Support aware of problem. No agent fixes.

I wrote this in case anyone else has these problems. All computers worked fine under 9.5 SP2 agent.

Laptop agent and CSA

Hi,

Can anybody help with this. I installed our laptop agent on a laptop and I want to deploy software to the laptop if the user is on their home network/wifi.

I am testing the laptop with a hotspot connection but when i do an inventory scan it cannot find the core server. I figure the easiest way to deploy software would be through the Portal Manager.

Any ideas? Any settings with the laptop agent that need to be changed?

Thanks

Agent Health Enforcement group selection? What is that?

Hi there

So i am setting up new 9.6 SP2 server to migrate my 9.5 environment into and there is this new  (And very welcomed) setting for an Agent Health. Under Enforcement area it has an option to - "Periodically scan for agent health issues using the following group". And than is seems it can "Automatically remediate any issues found after scan"

That us great and all but ... What are those groups? Where do i set them up? And what exactly are they for?

Thanks a ton!!!!

After deploying agent, I can not access the machine (Remote or ping or anything) It is added however to all devices in the core.

When testing the BrokerConfig.exe I get this error:

Unable to deploy agent to unmanaged endpoint

I've been attempted to deploy to an unmanaged endpoint that was discovered through the UDD (Unmanaged Device Discovery).  The endpoint is a laptop, hardwired, win7 x64, with the firewall turned off.  It is part of the default WORKGROUP domain.  Our Scheduler service is using the "LocalSystem" account.

With all that in mind it still fails with the message "Unable to contact the specified machine.  The machine may be off or unreachable." return code: 1087

I am able to ping the device on the IP address that LD is attempting to use.  Thoughts?  Places I could check for a better error message?

IP Address Issues with Clients using both wired and wireless nics

Here in our corporate office we've recently rolled out wireless connectivity to the entire space.  We're now seeing issues where Landesk cannot keep up with the switching between wired and wireless IP for the device, and the various ip address pools. I'm running LDMS 9.6 SP2.

I understand that while I have "run scan when IP address changes" enabled on the client, this will not help when a pc switches between wired and wireless.   I've updated my agent settings to more frequently run inventory scan in hopes of getting better reporting to the core, but that does not really look to be helping, and I'm now having a devil of a time trying to deploy packages.  Its unclear whether I need to do anything outside of Landesk, possibly with DNS settings in my environment.

Has anyone else run into this issue and can offer some suggestions.

Is it possible to create the schedule agent deployment option as a policy task?

$

I would like to right-click on an agent configuration and use the "schedule agent deployment" option but this automatically creates a push task. Is there a way to schedule this deployment as a policy or PSP? This is for laptops that are not on a domain so the advance agent and GPO is not an option, which we do use for our domain computers.

Thanks,

Sundiata

How does the Advance Agent work in version 9?

Hello All,

I've upgraded our core to version 9 from 8.8 and am now in the process of planning the version 9 agent deployment.

The way I understood the 8.8 advance agent to work was that the first client would download the advance agent form the core server. this then installs and downloads the EXE file and then installs that. The next client will then download the advance agent, install it and will check their local subnet for a cached copy on on another client. If there isn't one it will then download form the core server.

Is this still the same? did I understand it correctly in the first place? Eoes it require any additional configration?

Many thanks.

Agent deployment via GPO, problems with UAC

$

I am attempting to deploy the Advance Agent using Group Policy.  It works fine if I push the Advance Agent using the LANDesk scheduler, but this is not ideal as many of our computers are only on for short periods of time.  With the GPO deployment, I can see the advance agent install files in Program Files/LANDesk, but the actual agent isn't installing.  If I manually run the Advance Agent msi, it gives me a UAC prompt.  So, I'm guessing the GPO deployment is getting stopped by UAC?  All our users are domain users, some are local admins, some aren't, but I didn't think that was supposed to matter doing a GPO Machine deployment.  Is there any procedure to get this to work that doesn't involve making everyone admins or disabling UAC?  The only articles I've found on this issue are about the LANDesk scheduler, not GPO.

We just find out that apps downloaded from Microsoft store failed to launch after we successfully pushed the LDMS 9.5 agent to client machine. Apps example: Skype, Evernote.  Uninstalling LDMS agent using /forceclean switch don't fix this issue. Anyone facing this same issue?

Update agent from 9.6 to 9.6 SP1

$

Hi

I just upgraded my Core from 9.6 to 9.6 SP1. Now I want to upgrade my agents too. However, I see no definition in Patch Manager for this update. Do I have to do a full reinstall of the agent? I don't want to manually update the agent using the SP1 Client EXE file.

I have verified that definition type "LANDesk 9.6 SP1 Software Updates" is selected in Patch Manager, and ran the Download Updates tool several times but nothing comes up.

Any advice?

Patrick

Clients staying in "Pending unmanaged client deployments"

$

I'm running LDMS 9 in my test environment and it seems that every time I use Unmanaged Device Discovery to discover a client machine and I push the agent out to it, the machine doesn't show up in All devices. After looking a bit further, I've noticed that all my machines are in Pending unmanaged client deployments. Even after I run an Inventory scan on the clients they still remain there. Any suggestions on this?
