HDallowed Operators group being overwritten

When upgrading from 8.5 to 8.8 Server Agent (w2k and w2k3) the HDallowed operators group is being cleared and then LANDesk puts the new users/groups from Server agent configuration into the group. However this is causing me problems as I am upgrading a large number of servers and each server has different groups and local users in the HDallowed operators group. Thus when the new agent is installed users are losing their remote control access to the server.  Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  LANDesk do not have a solution except to script a copy of the HDallowed group and copy the settings back into the group after the install.

Changes to Agent Config

Wondering if someone can help shine some light...

 

I have one major config that is deployed to all my clients.  I recently made changes to the schedules of Inventory, Policy, and Vulnerabilities, as well as an update to the Agent Watcher settings.  Do I need to push out a new client (uninstall/reinstall), or will a scheduled agent update function be sufficient?

 

If the scheduled agent update is enough, how can I tell which clients have the new config?

 

I've checked the Agent Configuration Date, but it never updates.

UninstallWinClient.exe Uninstall Causes Blue Screen

We are having an issue on a particular laptop.  We noticed it blue screens relatively soon after you plug a network cable into it.  Right before the blue screen, the only process we could see running is rcgui.exe.  It is on Landesk 8.8 SP3 on Windows XP SP3.  When we tried to run an uninstallwinclient.exe /forceclean with no network connection, it began to run and it produced the same blue screen.  Seems like it must be an issue with the client.  After rebooting, only the LANDesk Management Agent Service is left.  How can we remove this service manually and try to get the rest of the agent off this machine?  Anyone ever run into this?

IP Issue

So when I run a scan to find unmanaged devices I see machines with a certain IP address   example 10.500.3.35. However when I move that device to a scheduled task (Deploying the agent) the ip address then changes to a different one. When I ping the device it appears with the first IP address. I have deleted the task and rescheduled it but the ip address keeps changing when I move it.

Add XDD to Agent

Can I just add XDD to a system with a LANDesk Agent already installed or can it only be installed via a full Agent deployment.  Was hoping to use vulscan.exe with switches to install XDD.

Newbie alert!

 

I am installing LDMS 9.5 with the bundled SQL Express database and data analytics. The company I work for had LANDesk previously and pushed out the agent using a GPO. However, they have made acquisitions since then, and now we have Mac's and PC's in the environment that are not in the domain.

 

Do I need to bind all of the machines to the domain in order to have them report to LANDesk? Binding to the domain will be time consuming (user profiles), so if I can, I'd like to bind the machines gradually over the coming weeks. If I do not need to bind them to the domain, what is the process for getting the agents on to the machines and making sure it reports correctly?

Question About SSD Drives & LANDesk

Does anyone know if there are any issues with LANDesk and SSD drives?  We are looking to mover our advanced users to SSD drives in the near future and don't want to create any headaches without first posting this question.  I ask, also, because our test machine which had an SSD drive on it developed 'freezing' issues after the LANDesk agent was installed.

Landesk agent for XPE2009

Hi,

 

I have just been given the task of LANdesk operator..

 

I am attempting to create an installer for windows XPE 2009, however when it runs i get a text file saying done and no icon in the system tray and when landesk scans the machine doesnt have the agent software.

 

i tried the scheduler to push the agent, but alas i dont have the script to push this to Wyse XPE2009 units...

 

can any one help?

How to check agent status

Hi all,

 

How can I check the agent status from management console? I mean the endpoint is shut down or not, the agent is running or not, the remote control is listening or not, etc.

 

If yes, can I check all of the agents status by a single view or I have to check the status one by one?

Since we moved to SP 4 and then 5 im still having stupid issues with pushing out the agent to new machines, whether or not they are related im not sure but i havent had this much trouble with agent installs since using LD a year ago. It just seems lately its issue after issue with agent installs. Previously out of all our devices i have had not much trouble. I have had much trouble with the agent installs on new machines lately. They arent new models compared to the others which worked fine in the past. I had a cba error previously which has an annoying fix that i need to uninstall and then reinstall from the core server. That is one fix. This issue im talking about is that whne i have re-pushed the agent after doing this cba8.msi install from core server, the agent scheduled job says its green successful. When in fact it isnt. WHen i look at the properties of that device im not seeing- Remote Control Agent Status not loaded when it should be. Why is this happening? any help would be appreciated.

 

 

Working with LANDesk Agent on a segregated network

I work for a library that has segregated networks--one for patrons and one for staff.  The core server is on the staff network and needs to communicate with the agents on the patron computers.  The Windows fireall is disabled on the patron computers.  A router and physical firewall separate the networks, so we obviously need to punch holes in the firewall to allow communications between the server and the agents.

 

 

Our network engineer entered the port exceptions listed in the LDMS 8.8 deployment guide for Remote Control, Inventory, Software Distribution (push, policy, multicasting), and Management Web services.  Nonetheless, the patron computers show as being offline even though they are turned on.  Are there any other ports that we need to open up in order to use Remote Control, Inventory, and Software Distribution?

 

 

Version Number on Agent Doesnt Show and Cant Perform Inventory/Security Scans

I have about 20 computers out of 900 that I can't get the Agent to work on

 

I uninstalled and reinstalled the agent using this methodas taught to me by tech support...

 

 

1) Uninstall Agent Configuration from System using uninstallwinclient.exe

2) Remove the following registry entries, HKLM>Software>Intel>LANDesk and HKLM>Software>LANDesk>.

3) Delete C:\Program Files\LANDesk\.

4) Push/Reinstall Agent Configuration

 

 

but after I push the client, all the services are there and started. I can remote control into it but I can't inventory the PC's or run security/patch and compliance scan, they fail.

 

 

This is 8.7 sp5, the clients are running Xp pro Sp2. They have plenty of disc space. The even viewer on each pc reads:

 

 

Product: LANDesk(R) Common Base Agent 8 -- Installation completed successfully.

Query for LANDesk version

I am doing an agent install for 8.80 SP2A.  So I created a query based on who needed the patch, no problem.

 

Then I summed up those who have with those who needed and I didn't come up with all my devices.

 

Now I'm wondering if all the users didn't get SP2 and are on SP1

 

Can I create a query to find out what version of the agent is installed?

Will an Advance Agent push via GPO overwrite an existing agent?

Good Morning,

     My question comes from inexperience; any advice you all could give would be greatly appreciated:

 

Info that may be of use:

Agent Configuration: Workstations-v1 (For windows desktops)

 

Created the following advance agents for remote locations based on the above package:

Site1-Workstations.msi/exe (points to a unc path \\site1\share\site1-workstations.exe)

Site2-Workstations.msi/exe (points to a unc path \\site2\share\site2-workstations.exe)

 

I would like to create advance agent with a new name based on same workstations-v1 agent config:

Domain-workstations.msi/exe that would point to a sysvol folder on our domain.

 

I have pushed out a few hundred agents to our organization using basic agent push's.  I have also created a few advance agents from the same agent configurations package and placed them on shares in some of our remote locations. And scheduled advance agent pushes to the remote locations.  My questions is this:

 

If I make a new advance agent (based on the same agent configuration package) and push this out via GPO will this new advance agent overwrite the existing agents I have already pushed out?  I would hate for the users I have already pushed the agent out to to get it a second time... Just hoping my inexperience didn't cause me a huge headache.

 

 

Maybe one solution would be to create the new advance agent pointing to the sysvol and then manually scan and run the remote locations...

Landesk advanc agent installtion issues error code 1208

Hi This is pramod.I am trying to push the advance through the Landesk advance agent scheduled in client systems and we are getting most of the machines  failed saying" An internal error occured. Return code 1208.

 

If anybody having the resolutions for this problem, please let me know.Currently we are in implemention phase and i want to deploy the agent in all client systems on remotely.

Common Base Agent status Not Loaded

We're seeing widespread instances where devices are showing the Common Base Agent status of Not Loaded (red X). 

The real-time inventory and remote control agent status both show loaded (green check).  The green check for remote control agent status is misleading though as we are not able to remote control these machines.  We can do inventory scans.  This seems to be more common with laptops than desktops. 

 

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening or how to correct this?

 

We're running 9.50.0.530 in an environment of approx. 9,000 machines and 25 preferred servers.

deploying new agent with AV

I'm using LDMS 9.5 SP2 and am trying to deploy a new agent that includes LANDesk Antivirus, along with a script that will remove our old Antivirus.  I made a package that will remove the old AV, and put it in as a dependency on an Advance Agent package.  I scheduled the Advance Agent package as a Policy Supported Push, added a test machine to it and kicked it off.  Since the machine I am testing with is outside the network, it failed the first time, but then when it checked in for an updated policy, it saw that it had some work to do, downloaded the script and the msi, ran the script to remove the old AV (success), and ran the msi.  The Advance Agent installed, and pulled down the new Agent EXE.  It seems to run the EXE ok, because the agent appears to uninstall, then reinstall, but the AV doesn't appear to install successfully.  In the LDClient directory, there's an Antivirus directory, but there's no LANDesk Antivirus Service, and no LANDesk Antivirus in the Start menu folder.  Has anyone come across this?  I'm thinking that the previous AV removal may need a reboot first... would putting a reboot into the AV uninstall script cause the Advance Agent package to fail?  The AV that I'm replacing is Sophos, if that's relevant.

Unable to launch Win8 Apps after LANDESK agent 9.6 installed

We just find out that apps downloaded from Microsoft store failed to launch after we successfully pushed the LDMS 9.5 agent to client machine. Apps example: Skype, Evernote.  Uninstalling LDMS agent using /forceclean switch don't fix this issue. Anyone facing this same issue?

Difference between Policy.Sync.exe and PolicySync.exe

Hello Folks,

 

Just a silly question here, I am using agent health script on 9.6 SP2 agents and it shows fail saying that Policy.Sync.exe not found. After checking machine I found only PolicySync.exe.

So just wanted to check if Policy.Sync.exe got replaced with PolicySync.exe or I am missing this on my machines. Would be also great to know critical process on client machines in 9.6 SP2 so to check agent health.
