How to keep all LANDesk components up to date?

We've been running through upgrading all our agents to 9.5 SP1 from 9.0 SP3 and i've started running into a number of issues with software deployments tasks, errors relating to 'agent out of date' errors 'please update client' type messages etc. Seems simply enough, work around was put in place by creating a new deployment policy that specifies to only use methods supported on individual clients.

But i was still curious as to how this could be the case, in most instances for our servers we completed manual installs with varying degree's of success - any number of issues with kaspersky updating / not updating at all / only installing the kaspersky a/v and not badging it LANDesk etc, so looking further into the device inventory i've found that the software deployment components themselves have not been getting updated on all clients - its very hit and miss.

Working combinations seem to be LD agent version 9.50.2.6 & policy.sync.exe 9.50.2.14 or 9.50.1.1 the clients with issues look to have lower versions of policy sync, i can see 9.0.2.29, 9.00.0.473, 9.0.1.3.

Is it possible to update the software distribution components only, similar to the method we can use to update installed security components to the latest version?

A great feature to have would be an agent health check of sorts, that could give you a summary of all agent versions against what they should be as per the core's latest updates etc and then an update worker process that simply downloads the latest components the agents are missing and installs.
