We are upgrading from LANDesk 9.0 PS3 to LANDesk 9.5 SP1. We have roughly 1600 PCs that are managed by LANDesk. Of those we have about 80 machines (HP 8200 Elite) that lockup during the LANDesk agent upgrade. It seems to happen as soon as the LDIScan32.exe process initiates during the install. I have to power cycle the machine for it to be usable again. If I initiate a manual Inventory scan the machine will lockup also. There is no LDIScan32.log so that does not help troubleshooting. The windows application event log does not show anything helpful. Here is what we have tried so far:
1. Uninstalled Sophos antivirus and did a manual cleanup of directories and registry entries and rebooted.
2. Updated all drivers on the machine.
3. Ran chkdsk and defrag on the machines.
4. Reinstalled old 9.0 client and manually uininstalled.
5. Did a Syscompare of a machine of the same model that is working and there seems to be no differences.
6. Set BIOS settings to defaults.
None of the above steps seems to help. Everytime we install the client it locks the machine, and when we uninstall the machine is just fine.
I have taken one of the machines and converted it to a VM. That actually allowed me to install the client without a lockup!
This issue seems to be happening on HP 8200 Elite machines, BUT a majority of our HP 8200s are upgrading just fine. We can install the old 9.0 SP3 client and that works just fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
