We have some programmers who claim that LANDesk is disk intensive and causing major slowdown with their computers. CPU utilization is low, but the point to Softmon.exe Policy.client.invoker, and kavehost.exe, (LANDesk related stuff), as using more than 81 times the disk IO then Visual Studio. Specifically they are sorting Task Manager by I/O Reads to come up with this information. We are running LANDesk antivirus. Software monitoring has been disabled.
Programmers from other departments say they are not having problems. I'm a network admin, and task manager shows the same hig I/O reads on my computer. I have not experienced and slow downs. Can anyone shed some light on the other things softmon does besides software monitoring. I know it is involved in several processes. Also, anything on what the I/O read information really means would be helpful. Here is the email we received including the screen shots from the user's computer.
Thx - Mark

Attached are some screenshots of the amount of disk reads from Softmon and LanDesk from Uesr's computer.
User’s point is that LanDesk is disk intensive and not CPU intensive. The topprograms.png shows that LanDesk related stuff is the top 3 programs, using more than 81 times times the disk IO than Visual Studio.
